Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center - Habitat Restoration & Beautification Service Project
Within the confines of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, one of the largest metropolitan areas in the United States, is a nature education center called the Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center. Located in Cedar Hill, Texas, the center actively works toward preserving wildlife and native habitats while educating visitors about the importance of conservation. On January 7, 2023, members of the National Junior Honor Society chapter at Cedar Hill Collegiate Academy & High School participated in a habitat restoration and beautification service project.
Scholars collected twenty-one bags of garbage and debris from the Canyon Floor Trail and the brand-new Dogwood Trail. Throughout the morning, scholars made their way through tall grass and winding paths to search for anything that did not belong in the nature preserve. Additionally, the visitor center was cleaned from top to bottom in preparation for the center's biggest fundraising event of the year. The scholars proudly served the Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center and represented the chapter, school, and district well. The NJHS Chapter at Cedar Hill Collegiate Academy & High School is looking forward to partnering with the nature education center again in the near future.
