Mrs. Martinez

Cedar Hill I.S.D. has been my work home for twenty years; all of them working in the library as a para-professional librarian's assistant. This 2019-2020 school year I will be dividing my time between Collegiate High School & Academy Middle School and Collegiate Prep Elmentary. Our librarian, Gena Jackson, will be spending time on both campuses as well.

Books and reading are very important to me and I hope to inspire such a passion in students with whom I come in contact every day at school.  Though the concept of "library" is ever-evolving I believe it is and always will be the school's center for information, a starting place for discovery, a kind of refuge to find balance when days can become so hectic, and the doorway to other worlds via books. I like the quote, "Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are."  In this day of advanced technology the world truly is at our fingertips. And leading youngsters to embark on its exploration developing insight, compassion, knowledge, and wonder is an exciting adventure.  You might even say "it's magical!"
